Cold Saponified Solid Soaps
Handmade in the south-west of France, Carrière Frères solid soaps respect the ancestral know-how traditionally used by soap-makers: cold saponification.
What is cold saponification?
Cold saponification is an artisanal manufacturing process that requires no heat source. The formula is mixed, poured, and then hardened, without any cooking. Before being packaged, the soaps are left to rest for over a month to allow the vegetable glycerin, a fatty substance naturally present in the soap, giving it even more moisturizing properties.
Why choose this process?
The absence of heat throughout the manufacturing process ensures maximum preservation of the properties of the ingredients used. The raw materials - in our case: organic coconut, sunflower and safflower oils, and shea butter - are not denatured, so the soaps retain the quality of the ingredients and the benefits of the plants. Last but not least, the natural production of vegetable glycerine during the month-long treatment gives our soaps even more moisturizing properties, giving them a pleasant texture that doesn't dry out the skin.
At the heart of Carrière Frères soaps
A unique formula was specifically developed for Carrière Frères to manufacture the highest quality soaps. Short and natural, by essence, the formula contains only four ingredients: a blend of certified organic plant oils and butters; a fragrance composed in Grasse by Robertet, the world specialist in natural perfumes; a natural colorant such as pink clay or turmeric; and water.
Essential for their emollient, softening, nourishing and moisturizing properties, the four plant oils and butters are of organic origin - French sunflower and safflower oils, coconut oil from the Philippines and shea butter from Burkina Faso. All are transparently sourced with respect for local populations and soils.
